Driving Directions / Travel by Car
(Faro, Portugal)
Located only a few miles from its associated town of Faro, the busy Faro Airport (FAO) is easy to reach.
Signposted as the 'Aeroporto de Faro', the airport is also central to the Algarve resort towns.
Portugal's Faro Airport is well fed by road, with the main N125 running the length of the coastline and right past the airport. The grounds lie to the south of both Montenegro and Gambelas.
Directions to Faro Airport (FAO) from the north:
- Head south down the N2 towards Faro from central Portugal
- Turn right onto the N125 highway before Faro and head west and north
- After a few miles, turn left for Faro Airport
Directions to Faro Airport (FAO) from the east:
- Head west along the coastal N125 for Faro
- Continue along the N125, bypassing Faro and turn left for Monte Negro
- Carry on past the turning for Monte Negro and head south-west for the airport
Directions to Faro Airport (FAO) from the west:
- The N125 also comes in from the west
- Head east and then south towards Faro
- Turn right for Monte Negro before Faro
- Carry on past the turning for Monte Negro and head south-west for the airport
- The IP1 also goes east and west for those with less time
The Algarve's N125 coastal road can become very busy during the summer period, therefore it is best to use the main east-west IP1 (to the north of the N125) while travelling back to Faro Airport by car, to avoid being late.
